Hey guys! As summer comes to an end I wanted to share some of my favorite pictures from these last few months. This summer felt like the busiest summer of my life. We really went on a ton of trips and each one was equally exhausting! Vacations with kids are definitely work, but looking back I'm so glad we did so much with the girls. We spent a lot of time in our bathing suits, at the beach, at the river and in our pool. I definitely got my fair share of vitamin d and am ready for colder weather, sweaters and football season!
One place that I am already excited to visit again is Lake Tahoe. We had a little family reunion for my mom's 60th birthday. The girls truly love being in the water so taking them places like this is always a lot of fun. A lot of work, but still a lot of fun! The drive was super long, so I'm thinking about flying next time we visit! But Andrew loves driving so we will see! We rode bikes, rafted down the Truckee River and played in the lake. You can watch our vlog of our trip HERE!
I'm pretty sure this was the very first time we took the girls OUT to get ice cream. They have had a few bites at home but never that much. Well let's just say I've never seen them sit more still in my life! That smile is all you need to see to understand how happy and content they were! It was funny because Violet, on the left here, was spilling all over herself but she didn't even care! June on the other hand would get so frustrated when one drop would get on her. She'd grab a napkin and start saying, "cleaning! cleaning!" and try to get it all off of her! It's so interesting to see how they are similar and how they are different.
We spent a lot of time in our backyard this summer. They are at the perfect age to explore. They could play with rocks all day long! They also love the water so we spent a lot of afternoons swimming. Side note: we are having a fence installed around our pool next week! I'm so excited and will finally be able to relax when we are playing out there.
We also made a few trips out to the river. Each time we go, the girls love it more and more. It's a great quick trip to make whenever we have a free weekend. We get to unplug and just hang out for a few days. I also love getting out on the boat. It really is so peaceful out there!
Funny story: When I was a waitress I HATED when people came in with their kids and left sugar packets everywhere. I would always get so annoyed cleaning it all up after they left. Well, we stopped at Ruby's on the way to the River last time we went and the girls dumped the sugar packets everywhere! But they were content and happy so I didn't even care. I looked and Andrew and said, "oh my gosh I'm THAT person now!" Don't worry we did pick as much up as we could! But I just think it's interesting to see how life changes. Priorities and perspectives really change!
Another place we spent a lot of time at was the Zoo! We got passes to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park because it's actually a great deal if you are planning on going a few times anyways. I think I've been 4 times now with the girls. We try to get there at 9 when they open and we usually leave between 11:30 and 12:30. That way we can drive back home in time for their naps. June and Violet LOVE animals so it's really fun to see them get excited to see all their favorites in real life! Not just in a book! I usually bring water bottles for the girls, myself and Andrew, and a few snacks so we don't have to spend much when we are there.

I just can't even handle their faces in this picture!!! Very unamused to say the least! Andrew and I took the girls to the park a lot. Sometimes we'd walk, sometimes we'd run, but we always went in the morning before it got too hot. We have a few parks near us and the girls love the swings! It's also a great way to get out of the house.
As you can probably tell from my previous posts, we made a lot of trips to the beach! I have a whole post on my top tips taking your little ones to the beach HERE. Nothing more refreshing than a little salt water! And now that everyone's back in school, trips to the beach are that much sweeter!
