Hi friends! So Andrew and I just went furniture shopping in Solana Beach. We went into a bunch of stores looking for beds and other furniture items. We are moving into a new place this summer and need to get some new things, so we figured we’d start looking asap. So here’s the deal. A lot of the stores we were in had some great things, but everything was pretty high in price. The headboard we liked was about $800 and it wasn’t even exactly what we wanted. So I remembered about Joss & Main which is a flash sale site for furniture and home decor and pulled it up on my phone. I found a section called custom upholstery and you can basically create your ideal bed for under $500. I put together a little collage of some pieces I am drooling over right now. Let me know if you guys have heard of this website and if you have ordered anything from there. I am planning on getting this bed within the next month and cannot wait!
For today’s decor inspiration, we are talking all about dining spaces. There is something so important about your dining space. I love dining areas that feel very lived in, but I also like a touch of formality as well. One of my favorite combinations is an old rustic table, with a beautiful chandelier hanging above. The juxtaposition of the two pieces creates so much balance and depth to any room. I love to spend my mornings sitting down at the table with a cup of tea to plan out my day. It’s my time to gather my thoughts and get organized. I think that your dining space should be able to work for guests, but also as a space where you can sit down and find inspiration.
Something I love about entryway’s is how they set the tone for the rest of the home. I’m a sucker for bright spaces with eclectic accents pieces. Your entry should be both beautiful and functional. A place to sit and put your purse or keys is a must. I also love statement light fixtures, neutral colors and earthy accents. I hope these pictures give you inspiration!
Wishlist:
comfy bench
pretty mirror
statement light fixture
patterned rug
a plant (adds a touch of green and warmth to any room)
Ahh. I love a great serene bathroom. I like mixing prints and materials to give the room some character and a vintage feel. Black and copper accents, white marble, and big open windows are a few things I am drawn to. I also love simplicity in the general design. A separate tub and shower, large mirrors, and touches of detail. I see bathrooms as a place of relaxation and I feel the design should mimic that entirely. Head over to my Pinterest board to see what else I love!
When it comes to the bedroom, I like decor that is dreamy, soft and romantic. Your bedroom should be a place of retreat, soothing and relaxing. Tufted headboards, fluffy white comforters and delicate chandeliers are what I think of when I envision my perfect bedroom. I also love using lots of neutrals but in different textures throughout the room. I hope you get some inspiration looking through these pictures. Let me know in the comments what is on your wish list for your ideal bedroom.
I’m the type of person that likes to get things done all the way, as fast as possible. Okay, actually this only applies to decorating, I lied. Every time we move in to a new apartment, which is basically ever year, I feel the need to decorate it completely that month. This is not something I recommend! I am working on enjoying the process and taking my time. I also need to realize that I won’t find everything that I love right away, so I need to be patient. This is one reason why I’m slightly nervous for when we buy our first home. I know that I won’t relax until it is completely furnished and decorated. I know I have issues. So anyways, until that day comes, I am trying to really see what styles I like. My taste in decor has changed so much from just a year ago. I am really loving the european chic feel. White and cream colors, balanced out with wood and black accents. I am a huge fan of neutrals, with a few pops of color here and there. I also love feminine touches, so let’s see what I can get past Andrew. Here are some of my favorite inspiration pictures for living rooms.
A few things on my wish list:
wood floors
upholstered accent chairs
lots of coffee table books
built in book cases
large detailed mirror see more pictures on my pinterest board
For my next decor inspiration, I have some amazing shots of kitchens that I love. I think the kitchen will be the room I care the most about. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and find it to be a very welcoming area of any house. Currently, our kitchen is so tiny it is almost impossible to move around, yet I still am in it a lot! The kitchens I am drawn to have black and white accents. I loooove black window panes with white walls. I also like when the cabinets are white around the wall, and black for the island. I hope to one day make my kitchen feel lived in and cozy, with a touch of elegance.
So I want to start a new series where I show you some photographs that I love. I know that my blog is mainly fashion and beauty, however I am also a huge home decor fanatic. Living in a tiny and temporary apartment isn’t too ideal for showing you my decor. So I figured I would share pictures that I have pinned that represent what I would like my future home to look like. I wanted to start off with the office. I would love to have my own office one day. A space where I can go that represents me. Somewhere clean, pretty, and inspiring.
A few things on my wish list:
big desk
shelves
pretty frames
fresh flowers
chandelier
lots of light
fun rug

My mom just held a bridal shower for one of my cousins this past week, and I was blown away by everything she did. I cannot take much credit, most of the decorations were finished when I got there. I love the whole vibe the shower had. It was so simple, but pretty and detailed. I think sometimes showers can get out of control and it becomes more about the ‘party’ then the actual people and event you are celebrating.
For the table, my dad spray painted these little pots gold (the colors of my cousin’s wedding are green and gold) and my mom planted succulents in them. The pots served as not only decor, but also as party favors. She used simple carnations for the centerpiece and vintage trays with mason jars on top. Mason jars add a great vintage element to any table.
For the drink table, we used this little flag banner to bring in some glitz. The honey comb looking jar had a cucumber lime punch inside which was delicious and super easy to make. My dad cut down a tree last month and sliced the trunk up for my mom to use as decor. She has one slab in the kitchen with a vase on top and it is so ‘anthroplogie’!
A candy table is always a good idea! We had cupcakes on this stand, with cold sprinkles from Michaels. When everyone arrived we put the chocolate covered strawberries on as well (it was so hot they still melted). Then you can use apothecary jars and fill with candy of whatever color you want. Looking at all these pictures is making me crave champagne and sweets!!! It turned out to be a wonderful shower, and I can’t wait for the wedding!
So I have been going slightly crazy in the pinterest/home decorating/dreaming department these days. I am so excited and ready to decorate my future home! Renting apartments doesn’t allow for many permanent decor plans, so I have had a lot of time to brainstorm what I really love. Once style in particular that has been so appealing to me is European. There is nothing prettier than buildings in Paris and old eclectic designs. Brass hardware, chandeliers and glossy black accents pretty much make me drool. We’ll see how much I’ll get away with once Andrew and I buy a home. These are some items that are on my lust list!
