Beach Essentials

With summer right around the corner I thought I would round up my top picks for the beach, river, or lake. Basically, if there is water involved, here is what you should bring! Plus, I am heading out to the river this weekend so it felt very relevant. One of my favorite things about Southern California is living near the beach and being able to drive out the Colorado River in under 5 hours. Let me know in the comments some of your picks too!

1. Cheap Sunglasses: Ya that’s right, I said cheap. I lost a pair of expensive sunnies at the river one year, and will never bring back a super nice pair. Plus they are going to get sandy and wet!

2. Spray-on Aloe: This is genius! I spray this on my face after I get out of the sun. It instantly hydrates my parched skin.

3. Leave-In Conditioner: This one is great because it has UV protectants which really helps to protect your hair. Spray in a leave-in before you get in the pool so your hair doesn’t absorb all the chemicals (or just get your hair wet first in the shower, then hop in). I also spray this in after I swim in the ocean. It works great at getting rid of tangles.

4. Panama Hat: If you want extra sun protection or just want to look extra chic, bring yourself a hat. I have been loving the look of panama hats lately.

5. Lip Balm with SPF: A MUST! I cannot tell you how many times my lips have been burned because I put on chapstick without an SPF.

6. Tote Bag: I like finding a bag that can work at the beach, but also be functional if I go out lunch or shopping after.

7. After Sun Lotion: Okay, sure you can use any lotion, but this is way better! This has organic aloe vera and almond butter with glittering particles of natural minerals that creates an amazing glow to the skin!

8. Organic Spray Suncreen: Once you use a spray sunscreen, it’s impossible to go back! This one is organic and smells like a citrus dream!

9. Comfy Flip Flops: Havaianas are the best. Find some flippys that work if you get them wet. Wearing some in a bright color always helps too!

Cali Comfort

Let’s face it. Some days you are not in the mood to get dressed up. Okay, so this is how I feel most days. Guilty. It may be from living in Southern California my whole life. I feel much for comfortable in flip flops than I do heels, and shorts always trump a skirt in my head. I recently got this top and shorts and have been LIVING in them for the past couple weeks. Seriously. Tanks, bralettes, and these denim sweat shorts have become my new wardrobe and I love it. Also, I have been using this black fringe bag from Windsor for the past month and I am completely obsessed! It is the perfect bag, and makes any outfit look cuter than it actually is! I hope you all have a great Wednesday and thanks for stopping by!

Boho Casual

IMG_2610IMG_1473 IMG_4561IMG_1187IMG_7618It doesn’t get much more comfortable than a romper! Forever 21 has so many cute rompers and dresses so go go go! I just got a couple dresses there for some upcoming weddings. One thing I love about wearing a one piece in a bright print and color, is that you can keep everything else slightly understated. I keep my shoes and bag brown, and my jewelry gold (per usual). This look is perfect to go out to lunch, shopping, the beach…basically it is very versatile! Rompers for the win!

Wedding Guest Outfits

Wedding season is in full swing! I have been busy doing makeup for friends and family and have an awesome post on wedding makeup that will be up next month. As far as fashion goes, what you wear to a wedding is really dependent on each occasion. Some weddings are very laid back, and you can get away with a comfortable summer dress. However, sometimes you need to get slightly more dressed up, even though it is in the summer. Figure out where the wedding is taking place and what time it will be at, then go from there. If you are attending a day time wedding, dress on the casual side. Sunset ceremonies tend to be a little more formal. Make sure to have fun when picking out an outfit. Weddings are such happy occasions so you should feel comfortable in whatever you decide to wear! Here are three ideas on different styles you can go with. hii.jpg

Edgy Florals

Happy Memorial Day everyone! I hope you all are having a great relaxing day with friends and family. I spent the day by the pool with Andrew and ate some delicious bbq. For today’s post, I got inspired by this amazing spiked necklace I have been wearing sooo often. I love how it adds a touch of edginess to any outfit. I paired a basic white tank with floral shorts to keep the look from appearing too boyish. Combat boots and a studded black shoulder bag tie it all together!

Neon & Tribal

Today’s look is all about mixing color and print. I love combining really casual pieces with something more dressed up. Here I wore casual jogger shorts, and paired them with a blouse, floppy hat, and wedges. As it starts to get really hot out, use both color and print to add interest to an outfit without adding many layers. Also, figure out where you want the focus to be. I wanted the emphasis to be on the neon lime shirt, so I kept it toned down with my shoes and jewelry. Have a great day everyone and thanks for reading!

So I am slightly obsessed with dolphin shorts. My upcoming outfit posts are FULL of them. First of all, they are so comfortable, and second, I love all the fun designs they have. You can wear crop tops with them or a regular shirt and tuck in just the front part. Both my shorts and shirt..oh actually and my bralette are from Shop Lately! I have been on their website like a hawk looking at all the new pieces coming in. One of my favorite ‘shops’ on the site is Publik. Check them out, they have really cute items. This look is so comfortable and casual. I feel like I should be at the beach walking down the pier with an ice cream in hand. Right? What are your favorite ways to wear printed shorts? I hope you all had a great week, and hopefully have some fun weekend plans!

Recap: Style 20/20 Event

I had a great time at the Style 20/20 event. I got a fresh perspective on what style is from experts. It was incredible hearing from men and women who work with Sephora, Loreal, and many more amazing companies. Something that I took away was to view style as something that is classic and timeless. Spend your money on great pieces that won’t go out of style in two months, and take care of what you have. Your style should represent who you are, and you should feel confident in what you wear. One of the main reasons we care about what we wear is because it has the power to give us so much confidence in ourselves. Use that to your advantage, and really own what you are wearing.

At the end of the day we filmed a clip of how we define style, so when I get that sent to me I will share it with you all! Below is a video that really captures the day. Thank you to Style 20/20 for having me, I had a blast!

Summer Dreamin

I was feeling super hippie for this look. I wanted something comfortable and lightweight, but still really fun and full of accessories. I layered a ton of jewelry, but made sure it was all delicate enough to go together. I also paired these amazing gladiator flats and fringe bag. (I’ve been using this bag everyday and it is perfect! I tied a knot at the top to make the strap a little smaller.) I think I am going to become obsessed with bralettes this summer. I just got this black one from ShopLately and love how effortless they are, and the lace looks so cute peaking out of your top. They do run pretty small, so watch out for that. I cannot wait for summer. I mean, it kind of already feels like summer because of how hot it is. But, until June rolls around I will just pretend!
