Summer Bucket List

Sharing our summer bucket list for 2022! We LOVE summer over at our house. I feel like it’s just so much fun and we love being outside every single day. I wanted to share some things we are wanting to do this summer to give you some ideas with your kids. Let me know what you plan on doing in the comments!

I bought a few new things from Target for the kids to use in our backyard. I like to do a little refresh outside and get some new water toys, bubbles, shovels and things like that. I love the Sun Squad line at Target for outdoor toys. They are all really affordable, super fun and colorful and great for summertime. I’ll link all the things I got for you in this post along with some other things online that look really cute too!

Summer Bucket List 2022

  • summer nature scavenger hunt

We love scavenger hunts these days. We did a spring one and one for Easter. I write down things like, something that crawls/something yellow/something flying and make some type of theme. The kids then draw a picture of what they find down on their clip board and it’s really a fun way to get us all outside together. For summer I’ll things like, a lizard, a bee, a brightly colored flower, ants, grasshopper and so on! Let me know if you make on for your kiddos!

  • arts & crafts

Painting is definitely our go-to craft. It’s so fun to see what they come up with. Some days I’ll have something for them to paint and other days I’ll just say paint whatever you’d like. We use craft paper or I’ll find boxes that’ll be thrown out for them to paint. One time we had a huge box and we made it into a little playhouse and I drew a door and windows then let them color the rest. We also love play doh and cookie cutters, dot markers and I love looking on Pinterest for specific ideas. And if you haven’t given your kids paint brushes and a cup of water to use outside you need to today! My kids will “paint” the rocks or fence for so long!!

  • beach days

The kids are at such a fun age for little afternoon beach trips. We love to hang at the beach for a while with our sand toys and then go out to a casual dinner together.

  • river trips

We are hoping to make a lot of these this summer! The river is one of our favorite places to be. We disconnect for a few days and just enjoy being outside and in the water. We wakeboard, paddle board, play corn hole, can jam, honestly you name it. Basically games all weekend long!

  • ice cream and old town

Some times we don’t feel like packing a big bag or doing anything that takes prep, but still want to do something. That’s when we will head to old town and get some ice cream together. Especially on a hot evening!

  • lots of time in the backyard

Our patio cover/deck is set to start on May 1st! I cannot wait to have that done by hopefully end of June. I need to go to Target and get one of those plastic pools. We had one last summer and used it SO much. So easy to cool off and the kids love it.

  • swimming at the grandparents house

Andrew’s parents live about 25 minutes from us, so we swim at their house a lot! Now that the girls can swim we are planning on going over there at least once a week!

  • legoland & safari park

We make a lot of trips to the safari park but I’d love to go to Legoland again!

  • family bike rides

Another FREE and fun thing we like to do with our family. We put Owen in the towing seat that attaches to Andrew’s bike. We usually will bike to a park and let the kids play for a while.

Friday Recap

Phew! What a week we had over here. It was full of so many highs and lows. We had so much lead up to Andrew’s brothers wedding. It had been postponed a year and we were all ready for it to be here! Also we all were in the wedding including the kids so I was a little stressed the week prior. The actual wedding was so amazing. We danced all night long and really had the greatest time. But then the day after the wedding we heard from our beloved nanny of almost a year, that she had to move on to a new opportunity. I never share much about her, out of respect for her privacy, but she really has been such a huge part of our lives this past year. She came into our home shortly after Owen turned 1 and the girls were 3. Our life seemed all out of sorts at the time. I was behind with work projects, not the most patient or present mom and just felt like I was drowning. I knew I had to give up some control and not do it all on my own, because clearly it wasn’t working.

She came into our home like a real life Mary Poppins. She loved our kids like they were her own and helped me to BREATH. Heck she inspired me to be a better mom with how great the house would look when she’d leave at the kids nap time! I was trying to figure out why I was so so sad when I heard the news from her, because I knew this day would come eventually and I’ve realized why it is. At the time she came into our lives I felt so frazzled and behind on everything, like I couldn’t keep up. And so hearing that she was leaving made me fear that I’ll go back to that place again. But I know now that we are all better than we were back then.

I say all of this because I’m the one to never ask for help. I always try to do it all on my own, but let me tell you, asking for a little help clearly can go a long way. People are brought into our lives for a reason and purpose. God put her here to help me when I needed it most and we will always hold a special place in our hearts for Miss L.

Below I put this weeks videos along with top links of the week! Have a wonderful weekend friends!

Friday Links!

Good morning! Sharing my top links of the week. It was a big week! The girls had their last day of preschool, went on stage for their school performance and made me the most proud mama! I also took them to get their nails done for the first time and they cannot stop looking at their sparkly little nails. And we had our new patio cement poured! This morning was the first day we could use it and it’s been so nice to be outside again. Next step will be to lay the grass down so that’ll be amazing. I hope you all had a great week and enjoy your long weekend!

Kitchen Plans

Kitchen Plans

Hey guys! Today I wanted to share some kitchen reno plans and inspiration photos that have given me a lot of great ideas. We have started our kitchen reno but are doing it in stages. So far we have taken out the microwave and replaced it with a new oven range hood. We also switched out our hardware on all the cabinets. Last weekend they started demo and took out the countertops and backsplash. Counters are going in this weekend!

A Week in our Life: Parents in Town!

A Week in our Life: Parents in Town!

I hope you all had a great weekend! My parents came into town last Monday night and stayed until Saturday. We had so much fun with them, and the girls cannot stop asking when they will be coming back. They were so emotional about it broke my heart. I’m not a really emotional person, and now have two highly emotional girls so it’s all new to me! :) It’s so sweet seeing how pure their little hearts are. They really love big.

I prepped a lot of work before they came into town so I could be more present when they were here and I also stayed off social media most of the week and it was kinda nice! Sometimes you need to disconnect in order to connect!

12 MONTH UPDATE

12 MONTH UPDATE

Well here we are! I now have a 1 year old! Honestly it’s so bizarre because I feel like Owen is still 6 months old. Maybe it’s the bald head?? And seeing Owen grow out of the baby stage and looking more toddler-like, makes my girls look SO much older! Why does this all have to happen so quickly?

Today I wanted to give a 12 month update of Owie and talk about his first year of life. I hope you enjoy today’s video! And seriously, thank you all for following along this past year. What a year it’s been.

What It's Like Having 1 Baby After Twins

What It's Like Having 1 Baby After Twins

I’ve been wanting to write a post like this for a while now! Comparing what is has been like having one baby after having twins. I know a lot you have twins and have been on the fence having a third. 1. I know you are all afraid of having twins again. If you have fraternal twins then your odds are a lot higher having a second set than if you have identical twins. Our girls are identical so I knew there was still a change to have another set but I knew I wanted more kids so I was willing to have 4 if that’s what was in the cards for us! And 2. You have PTSD after having twins and don’t want to go through it again. Kidding. Kind of. Having twins in the newborn stage is really stressful, it’s constant and just a lot to manage. So I know a lot of you are just not wanting to have to go through it all over again.

Travel Tips with 2 Year Olds!

Travel Tips with 2 Year Olds!

Hey guys! So today I wanted to share some travel tips if you have little ones. Our twins are 2 years old now, so things are definitely different from a year ago, and even just 6 months ago. I always am so thankful for Andrew, because I sometimes would rather just not go anywhere just so I don’t have to deal with the stress of traveling with the girls. It’s much easier to stay at home and remain in our everyday routine. But Andrew is always wanting to go to new places with the girls and I’m always glad we went after. Even if it was a lot of work (which is usually is!), it’s fun to look back on those memories and be able to show the girls everything they did when they were little.

Summer Recap

Summer Recap

Hey guys! As summer comes to an end I wanted to share some of my favorite pictures from these last few months. This summer felt like the busiest summer of my life. We really went on a ton of trips and each one was equally exhausting! Vacations with kids are definitely work, but looking back I'm so glad we did so much with the girls. We spent a lot of time in our bathing suits, at the beach, at the river and in our pool. I definitely got my fair share of vitamin d and am ready for colder weather, sweaters and football season!
